A Sober Reminder is the first acoustic melodic rock song from my first Album called 12 String Drift. The tune is played on a 12 string acoustic guitar in DADGAD tuning and contains a slide guitar solo. It is a song about being 3+ Years Sober, the lyrics describe my life seeing clearly after the fog of alcohol was lifted, which took about 3-4 months after I had stopped drinking. Alcohol makes one forget about all your problems and feel good temporarily, but has a sneaky demotivated depression that I didn’t realise was there until I had completely stopped. My life seemed to fall back together after I quit and I don’t think I will ever get drunk again. Anything more than 1 or 2 is poison literally. The times I have had a drink since then, it just made me feel tired. Speaking of being tired, maybe I should go lay down and contemplate the universe.
